If you are having mysterious electrical problems with your Porsche 944, such as the engine keeps cutting out at random, then it's probably the fault of the Bosch Motronic DME relay. This relay controls, amongst other things, the fuel pump, and it has no protection for the back emf generated when the fuel pump is switched off. This causes arcing across the contacts in the relay, and over time the contacts become burnt and pitted and unreliable. I am working on an upgrade to the DME relay to eliminate this problem - email me if you want to know more about it.
